The Eye of a Barking Deer 1,2 and 3 are part of a series of woodcuts on wallpaper backer paper and produced using ink made from pigment derived from homemade Wych Elm charcoal. The tree holds personal significance as it shares an etymological root with the artists surname and has experienced severe population decline due to Dutch Elm Disease. Barking deer, otherwise known as Muntjac are an invasive species in the UK and are known for the loud barking sound they produce to attract a mate.
